The Port of St Helier is often described as Jersey’s lifeline, providing modern commercial services to the island with 98.6% of all goods entering Jersey via the port. Our motor tugboat Handfast has been providing support services for the ongoing operations of this famous busy Channel Island port.
Handfast is a twin-screw tugboat, certificated under the MCA Workboat Code of Practice for operation up to 60 nautical miles from a safe haven for general operations. She is strong and reliable and has been providing essential port pushing and pulling services and general maintenance works around Jersey relating to ongoing marine activities.
Handfast began her work in Jersey this February and has found her impressive 2.4m draft, powerful 1050hp twin engines and 15t bollard pull invaluable in her work around the port and harbour. She is also equipped with an Effer 100 2S Deck Crane and 20Te Deck Winch with 280m x 36mm Wire Rope.
Built by Meyer Shipyard, she boasts a unique design being the heaviest build Damen Stan style Tug constructed for its time. Strong and reliable she is available for towage, ploughing and harbour support services throughout northern Europe.
Handfast shows her strong but efficient touch as she manoeuvres the Commodore Goodwill into position.
If you have any requirement for her services, please feel free to get in touch.
