Jenkins Marine has been back at the Sandbanks Ferry, operated by the Bournemouth Motor Road and Ferry Company, tasked with the removal of the 75m long x 20m wide chain Ferry from it’s chains and completing towage to the nearby Port of Poole for layup and essential maintenance.
On site has been the 10t Bollard Pull twin screw tug ‘Polmear’, and 4t Bollard Pull multirole workboat ‘Buffalo’, with assistance from one of Jenkins Marine’s Beaver workboats. Despite a reduced workforce Jenkins has managed to pull together a capable team to complete this complex operation in an exposed location with strong tidal flows. Given these challenging conditions careful planning was required, and all went well with the ferry safely delivered on schedule.
The operation is to be repeated to get the ferry back on it’s chains in a few weeks after completion of the maintennance work.
