Placing New Marine Habitat at Hengistbury Head
We have been commissioned to install a range of environmental reef units that will provide new marine habitat at Hengistbury Head as part of the ambitious Hengistbury Head Long Groyne Project. This project is a part of a 17-year Beach Management Scheme, with the original 1930’s long groyne being replaced & upgraded between April – October 2024. The groyne is vital to protecting the surrounding headlands and beaches from erosion and sea level rise. Read More

Our powerful, shallow draft, Damen Multicat Wind Lass and self-propelled spud leg pontoon Doreen Dorward, accompanied by deck pontoon barge JML5014, have been hard at work on the River Severn in Wales where they have been assisting in the installation of a new treated waste water outfall. Read More

Civil engineering contractor BAM Nuttall / Farrans JV approached Jenkins Marine and asked if we could offer any solutions to the required dredging of high spots in the river channel at Great Yarmouth around the new third river crossing. The ambitious new bridge will ease traffic congestion on the town’s roads and shorten journey times, as well as supporting wider plans to maximise economic growth opportunities in the town and wider borough. Originally built in 2012, our swim-ended, rectangular, flat top deck cargo barge Isabella S began life working predominately working at the Forth bridge construction project. Deployed as a long term crane barge platform and complimented with 4 x 25t anchor handling winches, along with the setup of 5 tonne stockless anchors to allow for the precise positioning required for the project. Skye’s The Limit!
Our new tug ‘DMS Condor’ has commenced a 9 month charter this month in the beautiful Isle of Skye, off the West coast of Scotland. As part of this project she has double towed two of our spud legged deck pontoons: JML 50 (50m x 14m x 3m) and JML 30 (30m x 11m x 2.5m) to Uig where the harbour is being redeveloped. Read More
Rock’in the Boat
We are currently working with clients and main contractors to provide marine support on a project to place scour protection rock under the historic Rockley Point Rail Viaduct. To maintain the safety and security of this viaduct, railway engineers decided to install scour protection using heavy rock infill placed against the retaining walls either side of the bridge to reduce scour and provide a gravity base.
