As in previous years we have been tasked with assisting the regular refit and docking work for the sandbanks chain ferry, the Bramble Bush Bay, operated by the Bournemouth Motor Road and Ferry Company. Every few years the ferry must be removed from its running chains for surveys, safety inspections and general upkeep. This year the 74m x 17m ferry has also been fitted with new prows. Read More

Originally built in 2012, our swim-ended, rectangular, flat top deck cargo barge Isabella S began life working predominately working at the Forth bridge construction project. Deployed as a long term crane barge platform and complimented with 4 x 25t anchor handling winches, along with the setup of 5 tonne stockless anchors to allow for the precise positioning required for the project. Our new tug ‘DMS Condor’ has commenced a 9 month charter this month in the beautiful Isle of Skye, off the West coast of Scotland. As part of this project she has double towed two of our spud legged deck pontoons: JML 50 (50m x 14m x 3m) and JML 30 (30m x 11m x 2.5m) to Uig where the harbour is being redeveloped.

We are currently working with clients and main contractors to provide marine support on a project to place scour protection rock under the historic Rockley Point Rail Viaduct. To maintain the safety and security of this viaduct, railway engineers decided to install scour protection using heavy rock infill placed against the retaining walls either side of the bridge to reduce scour and provide a gravity base. Jenkins Marine are currently back at the historic pier at Swanage, Dorset where some of the original timber piles and associated structures need replacing to allow continued safe use. We have successfully completed piling works for the pier over several years, including emergency work to the pier in 2013 following strong winds and rough seas that year which damaged the mid-section so badly it was near collapse...
